Greg Mitchell scores first Skyline LM feature of 2005
Skyline Speedway Stewart, Ohio (740) 662-4111 June 24th, 2005
Greg Mitchell scores first Skyline LM feature of 2005 - Bond, Bigley and Hall repeat.
"The track was perfect, and we didn't change the car at all tonight."We've about wore the bolts out chasing the set-up this year" said a jubilant Greg Mitchell in Skyline Speedway's victory lane Friday evening. Mitchell wore out the competition in the 25 lap LM main, as the caution free event clocked in at 6 minutes, 47 seconds. At the drop of starter Todd Gorrell's green flag, Freddy Carpenter raced side by side with Mitchell for 2 laps before Larry Bond took the runner-up spot. Bond applied vice-like pressure for the lead, as he and Mitchell ran the next 7 laps wheel to wheel before Mitchell's smooth style allowed him to start building a cushion. Mitchell's only scare the final 10 laps occured when he jumped wheels attempting to lap Brandon Russell. Mitchell's 'Poske's Performance Parts/ Mitchell Movers/ Rocket Chassis # 001' cruised to his first feature win of the season, and in doing so, took the Late Model points lead. Larry Bond was second, Carpenter third, with Ben Adkins and Ronnie Mayle rounding out the top 5. LM heats went to Carpenter, Mitchell and Bond.
