Rumor mill: Busch, McMurray get out of '06 contracts
JUSTIN, Texas - Here are the latest trends on the rumor front:
Kurt Busch and Jamie McMurray will get their releases to move to new rides next year, with Busch going to the No. 2 Dodges and McMurray to the No. 97 Fords.
Chip Ganassi, who'll lose McMurray in that deal, will field three cars next year with David Stremme, Reed Sorenson and Casey Mears as drivers.
Ganassi will work out his sponsorships to accommodate that since a three-team cap on team ownership looms in the not-to-distant future anyway.
Bobby Labonte's most likely destination seems to be the No, 43 Dodges at Petty Enterprises.
And with Busch going over to the No. 2 Dodges to replace retiring Rusty Wallace, it seems likely that Ricky Rudd will retire after Homestead, too.
