For a class in the motorsports management technology program at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Richmond Gage has assembled a sample budget for moving a Nextel Cup team's crew from race to race during a season. The total, he says, has increased from about $350,000 a year 20 years ago to nearly $1.6 million now:
