AVONDALE, Ariz. - Before the start of track activity this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway, Kurt Busch completed the remainder of his 50 hours of community service he had to perform for receiving a criminal citation here last fall for reckless driving.
"It definitely brings a breath of fresh air to have completed those hours in such a short amount of time. I was able to complete it because of the support of my Penske teammates, Kurt Busch Inc. and many other people," said Busch, who won the spring race at Phoenix a year ago.
"We put 100 percent of the effort into the Phoenix community. We made a large impact with the children in this community."
In court, Busch admitted to speeding, a misdemeanor, and two civil citations: following too closely and passing in a no-passing zone.
In exchange, the reckless driving charge was dropped. Along with the community service Busch also paid $580 in court costs associated with the Nov. 11 incident near the track.
