- Former Nextel Cup champion Dale Jarrett said he hopes to have a decision on where he will finish his career in the next two or three weeks.
"I've said a number of weeks ago that I've had quite a few people talking to me over the last five or six months, that's no secret. People know when the last year of your contract is, they start talking and seeing what your interests are and in my case, am I going to continue to drive and for how long," Jarrett said.
"That's why I made the statement that I was going to drive through 2008, and everybody that I've talked with understands that. We'll see who it works out best for in that scenario."
Michael Waltrip said Friday he had offered Jarrett a ride with one of his Toyota xteams beginning next season in Nextel Cup.
"I'm the person who has to look out for my welfare and my family. That's what I've been taking into consideration over the last five or six months in looking at what decision I make here in the next two or three weeks," Jarrett said.
Jarrett said his decision would not be affected by the plans of his current sponsor, UPS, whose contract with Robert Yates Racing also is up at the end of the season.
"They came here because of what we accomplished here at Robert Yates Racing and that hasn't been a factor in determining in what I'm going to do," he said. "The offers that I have had from everybody else aren't contingent on bringing a sponsor."
