CONCORD -- Nextel Cup driver Kurt Busch announced Friday he has donated $1 million to the Victory Junction Gang Camp through his charitable foundation.
The donation will go towards the construction of Kurt Busch’s Sports Superdome, a 28,000 square-foot facility which will provide opportunities for indoor sports in a climate-controlled environment.
"Many people in the NASCAR family are already very familiar with the Victory Junction Gang Camp created by Pattie and Kyle Petty as an oasis of hope, love and excitement – a true miracle for needy children," said Busch.
"I feel very strongly about this charity and will be proud part of its worthwhile causes."
The 70-acre camp, located in Randleman and founded by Kyle and Pattie Petty, is an independent, non-profit camp for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.
"Kurt and Pattie have launched this idea and this is one of the most phenomenal programs that we’re getting ready to start at camp because of Kurt’s generosity," Kyle Petty said.
