Paul Menard cites Cup plans with DEI, quieting talk of move to Toyota NASCAR team
CONCORD, N.C. - Dale Earnhardt Inc.'s NASCAR Busch Series driver Paul Menard said Thursday he is under contract with the organization through next season and will drive the No. 15 Chevrolet full time in the Nextel Cup Series in 2007.
Menard also said he and his team could run upwards of 10 Cup races this season and forgo running for rookie honors next year.
"No, we don’t care about the rookie thing. We would rather get the most experience that we can before we run a full season," Menard said.
Menard, 25, had been among the drivers mentioned for possible openings in Cup next season, including at least four Toyota rides.
