NASCAR announced Tuesday that penalties have been issued and fines levied against two NASCAR Busch Series teams as a result of rule violations at Gateway International Raceway last weekend.
Ricky Pearson, crew chief for the No. 36 Chevrolet driven by Tim Sauter, was fined $15,000 and suspended from NASCAR for the next two events beginning with Saturday's race at O’Reilly Raceway Park. Sauter was penalized for unapproved shock absorber piston bleed holes. The violations were discovered during post-race inspection on Saturday.
Sauter will lose 50 Busch Series driver points and team owner John McGill will forfeit 50 owner points.
Also, Greg Tester, crew chief for the No. 71 Chevrolet driven by Ron Young, was fined $2,000 for unapproved jacking bolts. The violation was discovered during opening-day inspection.
