Steve Spahr, a longtime employee of Bill Davis Racing who most recently served as jack man on the No. 55 Dodges for Michael Waltrip, died Friday night at his home in North Carolina. Spahr, who had worked in the shop and at the track for BDR’s No. 22 team before joining Waltrip’s crew, had been hospitalized after surgery for a tear in his aorta but had returned home to continue his recovery. “Steve was an important part of the Bill Davis Racing family for many, many years,” team owner Bill Davis said. “He was a quiet mentor to his peers and was both respected and well-liked by everyone on our race team and many others in the garage. He will be missed and remembered fondly by everyone associated with our team.” www.thatsracin.com/mld/thatsracin/15873328.htm
