September 24, 2005
No profanity will be allowed on any portion of the car.
Cars must be registered by 4 pm central time.
Sedans only. No station wagons, trucks, convertibles, jeeps, limos or imperials allowed. Frames from none of the above will be allowed.
Driver will be admitted to the grounds free. Driver must be with the car.
REMOVE BEFORE ARRIVING AT GROUNDS
Original gas tank. Hood latches. Chrome molding strips and all plastic parts and the bottom portion of rear seat. All glass including windshield, side windows, rear windows, and head and tail lights. Rolling windows down is not permitted. Glass must be removed from car. Any sharp protruding fins or dangerous objects, mash down or cut off. Car must be clean inside, no trash in the car.
USING NO. 9 WIRE OR 5/16" CHAIN
Fasten hood down in up to 6 locations: 2 in the front through the fender, 2 in the rear corners and 1 on each side. Hood must be opened until car inspection takes place, or holes large enough to look in for inspection must be left.
Trunk lids can be welded sheet metal to sheet metal 1 inch steel bar can be along the edge of the trunk to the fender. Holes large enough to look in for inspection must be left.
NO WELDING WHATSOEVER WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE FRAME. This includes Frame seams and adding any steel to the frame.
Very front body bushings on each side of the car can be removed. They can be replaced with a 1 inch or smaller all thread and 3 inch washer. May extend all the way through the frame. All thread can be used and extend from inside the frame through the hood. All other bushing must remain original and in place.
No steel or any other types of reinforcements are allowed on the frame or in the body.
Special bumpers, reinforcements, fabrications, or trailer hitches are not permitted except for welding bumper brackets.
Shock bumpers may be welded for safety reasons. Bumper brackets may be welded to the frame.
Bumpers may not be cut off but can be rolled on the ends.
Welded solid or chained down engine mounts are recommended.
Holes may be cut on firewall for access to engine of distributor but distributor may not break the plane of the firewall.
Radiators or heaters must remain in original position or to be taken off. If radiator mounts are missing fasten missing in original position using number 9 wire in all corners. Transmission Cooler are allowed can be located anywhere in the engine compartment.
Roll bars are allowed and can be installed approximately 8 inches behind the front seat. May not connect to frame.
All doors must be fastened shut by chain, strap or welded for driver's safety. A vehicle will be disqualified if the driver's door comes open during a heat.
It is recommended that the driver's door be reinforced inside with steel bar, angle iron or pipe. Passenger door reinforcement is also allowed. Length not to exceed 8 inches past the door in any direction or 8 inches behind the drivers seat. A steel support is allowed directly behind the front seat and across the dash area. All of this reinforcement must be securely fastened.
Two any size batteries are allowed, they may be moved to any position in the car, but they must be securely fastened and covered.
Cutting fenders for wheel clearance is permissible.
The gas supply must be removed from the stock gas tank to the rear seat area. A portable tank (plastic or metal) with a hose to the stock gas line is permissible. The gas tank must be fastened securely to the floor and covered. Approximately four gallons of gasoline is allowed per heat. No electric fuel pumps are allowed. Any sign leaking fuel will disqualify that car.
Auto must be swept clean.
No double tires, liquid in tires, studs, or screws in the rims to hold tires.
No additional attachment is allowed through bottom of trunk around frame.
Car must be level. Any suspension modifications may be made but you may not change to a different type of suspension.
A strong wire or nylon mesh screen is recommended on the driver's window and windshield area. For drivers protection two steel bars or angle iron pipes is required to be put in the windshield area. These should be positioned from top of front of firewall to top of car.
Safety belts, approved helmet, goggles or face shield are required.
Car must have dependable brakes at all times. If brakes fail during heat, do not move the car.
Boundaries of the track must be observed. Any vehicles with 3 wheels or more out of the track is disqualified.
No cars are permitted on the track until the heat in which they are to participate.
A 1-minute time limit will be enforced by the track officials for restarts and making competitive contact with another car. Hits must be aggressive. Simple contact within the time limit does not constitute combat and will be considered sandbagging cause for elimination.
No double-teaming. Judge will warn once, then the two suspected of double teaming will go until one of them is put out while the other cars set idle.
All cars must be removed from grounds by midnight or when derby is complete.
To be eligible for the feature heat you must be one of the last two cars running in a heat or consolation heat. Judges will pick the most aggressive driver in each preliminary heat. This driver will receive the stated prize money for being the most aggressive and will be in the feature heat.
During a heat all drivers must stay in their car until a break in the action or until the heat is complete.
If emergency arises during the event, all cars will be stopped.
If a car catches on fire the derby will be stopped and the fire put out. This will only happen twice with the same car during a heat after that they will be eliminated.
If any cars must be removed to allow emergency equipment to operate, then all cars must return to their original starting position to resume the heat. If it is unnecessary to move any car or cars during emergency, then they will "restart" from their present position.
No alcoholic beverages allowed on grounds. Any driver under the influence of alcohol will lead to the disqualification to that car and local law enforcement will be asked to remove them from the grounds.
Track officials will allow 15-minute period between the final heat and the consolation heat and the feature heat.
No one is allowed in the arena area except the track officials and drivers for the current heat. Anyone entering this area will be asked to leave the grounds.
Any driver fighting will disqualify the driver.
Any car moved while action is stopped will automatically be disqualified and the driver will be held liable for any physical and/or property damage. Criminal charges will be brought against any driver endangering the life of him or others during the race.
Any flagrant hits in the driver door will disqualify that driver.
Allen County Jaycees and Allen County Fair are in no way responsible for any injuries, damage, fire and theft. Race safely and at your own risk.
If judges suspect a car giving up or any cars quitting so that the prize money may be split between them later, all parties involved will be disqualified.
Driver must register himself in at sign up table. No driver changes unless cleared with sign up table.
Sandbagging will not be allowed. First offense, the derby will stop; then that driver will be marked with a flag. This will be considered the final warning. The next time the driver will be disqualified. The warning is for the whole derby, not just the heat the warning is received in.
