--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rick Jones has just announced that the high banked Potomac Speedway will play host to a $5000 to win 40 lap Super Late Model race on Thursday night July 7. A $500 to win 30 lap Open Competition Street Stock race will join the Super Late Models on the racing card that starts with hot laps at 7:30 pm. Qualifying heat races will begin the night of excitement at 8 pm.
The World of Outlaw Late Models will be racing at the Delaware International Speedway on Wednesday night and have a night off to travel to Hagerstown for their Friday and Saturday night shows. The Potomac Speedway is located in between the two speedways and gives the drivers an opportunity to race for some great prize money on their night off. The 40 lap feature will pay the winner $5000 while last place collects a $300 prize.
The Super Late Models will determine starting positions through qualifying heat races as well as a 5 lap Dash for the heat winners. Drivers not qualifying for the 40 lap main event will compete in a $500 to win Non-Qualifiers race with each racer in that event assured of receiving a minimum of $100.
The $500 to win Street Stock event is an open competition event. Each car must have a stock front clip and a maximum 5 inch spoiler with no sideboards or wings. Each car must also pass a safety inspection by speedway technical inspectors. There are no limits on engine size, carburetors, or tire sizes for this event. For more info about the rules contact the speedway office at (410) 857-3821.
General admission grandstand seating for this exciting special event is just $20. Race fans can save an additional $5 off the general admission grandstand price by presenting a ticket stub from the Wednesday July 6, 2005 World of Outlaws race at Delaware International.
“I want our fans to know that we are still bringing them the best racing around and creating this special race is one way of doing just that,” remarked promoter Rick Jones. Jones went on to say, “There are a lot of big money races taking place that week so I wanted to give the fans a break if they go to Delaware and still take in the great racing at Potomac.”<br>
The Potomac Speedway has also announced that they have cancelled the racing action set for Friday night July 8 due to the addition of the July 7 event.
The Potomac Speedway is located just 7 miles off US RT 301 on MD RT 234 in Budds Creek, MD. The speedway is just a one hour drive off US RT 50 in Bowie, MD or the Washington DC Beltway. For more information please call the speedway at (301) 884-4200 or the Oval Track Promotions office at (410) 857-3821.
