Cedar Lake Wisconsin Steppin up in a REAL big way.............
$50,000 to Win at 2006 Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway
By Ron Bernhagen
For Immediate Release- January 21, 2006. New - The 19th Annual USA Nationals August 3rd-5th at Cedar Lake Speedway, one of the highest paying dirt late model races in the country with a purse of almost $200,000, will have a different look than in past years.
Heading the list of changes will be a large increase in the purse for the three-day event. The USA Nationals feature winner will now take home a whopping $50,000. A lot of money has also been added to the entire finishing order with starting money now at $3,000.
In addition, for the first time in many years, the USA Nationals will join other high paying, high profile dirt late model events around the country and go unsanctioned. "CLS decided for 2006 and beyond to significantly increase the purse for the USA Nationals and go unsanctioned to guarantee our fans will see all the best dirt late model drivers in the country," stated Steve Kaufman. "Plus, we're not increasing ticket prices."
Another exciting change will be the return of the 100-lap feature, which is now paying $50,000. Finally, the USA Nationals will be one of four qualifiers for the late model nationals at Knoxville Raceway in September, with the winner of the USA Nationals guaranteed a starting position in that race.
The tire rule and procedures for the event will be announced shortly. Driver pre-registration will be accepted until June 1 and will cost just $100. After June 1 or at the gate, the cost will be $200.
Pre-registration forms may be obtained from www.cedarlakespeedway.com or by calling 612-363-0479.
As with the Masters event in June, the USA Nationals will kick off Thursday, August 3rd with a full program of WISSOTA modifieds, super stocks, street stocks and modifieds along with late model practice. On Friday and Saturday, August 4th and 5th, the pits at CLS will be overflowing with local, regional, and national late models and the stars that pilot them. "Many of the top names in dirt late model racing have indicated they will be at this year's USA Nationals," stated Brad Both of CLS.
Friday's program will consist of preliminary events leading up to the $50,000 to win feature on Saturday night and a complete show of CLS super late models brought to you by the newly formed Dirt Track Racing Association (DTRA). On Saturday, the intensity and competition will be at a fever pitch as drivers compete for bragging rights and the huge $50,000 winner's check. To round out the program, another complete show of CLS super late models running the DTRA series will be in action.
Advance two-day discount tickets for the USA Nationals are currently on sale for $50 online at www.cedarlakespeedway.com/ or by calling 612-363-0479.
