Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season opens at Golden Isles
BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season opener scheduled for Friday Night, February 3 at the Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, GA was rained out after 55 of the 65 entries had taken time in qualifications. The event will not be made up. Promoter Frankie Lloyd and Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Director Spencer Wilson mutually agreed that with the time constraints of the upcoming hectic six day 30th Annual Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL scheduled for February 6-11 it would be in the best interest of the participants to cancel the event for this year. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will now head to East Bay for a special practice session on Sunday Night, February 5 followed by six straight nights of racing.
The week long Winternationals will start on Monday, February 6th and continue until Saturday Night, February 11th all events will feature a complete race program with Time Trials, Heat Races, B-mains and A-Main event. The first three nights of events will pay $5,000 to win, with Thursday Night’s purse going to $7,000 to win, followed by a $10,000 to win show on Friday Night and Saturday Night’s finale will pay $12,000 to win. The final two nights at East Bay the cameras of SPEED Channel will catch all the action as the series will make its debut on the only all racing television network as the event will be taped for a later broadcast.
As an added bonus to the drivers the DART Winternationals Point Fund will see a total of $30,000 in cash and product up for grabs for all six nights of racing with the 2006 East Bay Winternationals Champion being crowned after the final race on February 11th. All six nights will be broadcast live over the internet on www.RaceTalkLive.com starting at 10 PM on Eastern Time on Monday and Tuesday with the rest of the nights broadcasts starting at 7 pm Eastern Time.
