NORMAN, Okla. -- A complete racing program, including time trials, will unfold at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. Tuesday, April 18 when the World of Outlaws Late Model Series returns for the rain postponed ‘Spring Showdown In Sarver Town 50’. DIRT MotorSports™ officials have ruled to scrap the completed time trials from the original April 7 date after rain forced postponement of the $10,000 to win event.
Rick Eckert of York, Pa. topped the 52 car field with a lap of 15.504 seconds around the high-banked ½ mile clay oval at an average speed of 116.099 MPH driving the Raye Vest Excavating/J&J Steel No. 24 Raye Vest Rocket Chassis/Cornett Racing Engines Ford Fusion. Rain began to fall over the facility with five drivers yet to qualify. The time trial session was completed when the rain began to fall harder. Over one hour later and the rain still falling the decision was made to postpone the event.
Rain played havoc with the entire April 7 – 8 weekend for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. The inclement weather also forced postponement of the April 8 ‘Rumble On The River 50’ presented by Thurston Spring Service, Inc. at Virginia Motor Speedway in Saluda, Virginia. That $10,000 to win event will be held this Saturday, April 15 and will be captured by the SPEED cameras for July 16 broadcast.
