Tuesday night at Grandview: The WoO look to grab the money and run; against the Sheriffs of the Pennsylvania Posse
BECHTELSVILLE, Penn. -- The World of Outlaws have never lost in seven events at Bechtelsville’s Grandview Speedway and on Tuesday May 16th, the drivers of the Mean 15 will look to keep the streak alive. Fred Rahmer and the rest of the Pennsylvania Posse are left with the job of defending the home turf against the invaders. The NAPA Auto Parts/ COMDIAL Communications Thunder on the Hill series opener will feature a 35-lap, $10,000 World of Outlaws show featuring the best drivers in the country against the best drivers that Pennsylvania has to offer.
“The Wild Child” Jac Haudenschild is fresh off his first win with car owner Rick Wright and is the only current member of the Mean 15 to have visited victory lane on the one-third mile oval, but Joey Saldana, Craig Dollansky, Donny Schatz, and Terry McCarl are no strangers to Pennsylvania winner circles. Chad Kemenah, Daryn Pittman, and Brooke Tatnell also look to make some noise by the time the dust settles.
While the Outlaws have held a stronghold over Grandview, the Pennsylvania drivers have taken home their share of victories against the big guns. Fred Rahmer, Lance DeWease, Greg Hodnett, and Mark Smith have all sent the Outlaws packing before and are looking to send them away empty handed in the first Pennsylvania showdown of the season. Chad Layton, Todd Shaffer, and Keith Kauffman know their way around Grandview as well and could look to pull off an upset victory.
“Fast Freddie” picked up two Outlaw wins last year including a preliminary win at the Knoxville Nationals. With new car owners Jim and Sandy Kline, Fred is the currently leading all Pennsylvania drivers with 4 feature wins this season and is back with “Moon” Byers turning the wrenches on the J&S Fabrication #22. With this current hot streak, Fred looks to be the man to beat with the PA Posse.
Lance DeWease has also been hot as of late, finishing outside of the top 3 only one time in his last 10 starts. Lance is currently leading points at two of the weekly tracks on the Pennsylvania circuit and is also leading the Speed Dawg Central Pennsylvania Sprint Car Point Series.
The show will feature Time Trial qualifying, Heats, 2 Dashes, a B-Main, and 35-lap A-Main that pays $10,000 to the winner!
The ARDC wingless midgets will make their first appearance of the season as well on Tuesday night with a full card of qualifying and a 20-lap main event. Defending champ Ray Bull of Bloomsburg took one of last year’s opening midget feature and should be the favorite to win again. Riverside, CA native Danny Stratton will make a rare appearance on the east coast running one of Mike Miller’s midgets. Stratton was runner-up in last year’s BMARA points while racking up wins at Knoxville Raceway and Eldora. Steve Buckwalter, Billy Pauch, Jr., Donnie Trent, and Ed Stimely, Jr. are just some of the expected entrants for Tuesday’s show.
Advance tickets for this exciting double header open wheel action are already on sale. Tickets for Adults are $30, Children 6-11 $10, and children under 6 are admitted free. Advance tickets may be purchased at the Grandview Speedway this Saturday night or by calling; 215-860-5631.
